Dave MacKenzie, MP- Oxford and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Public Safety was recently re-appointed to the House of Commons Special Committee on the Canadian Mission in Afghanistan.
“I am pleased to be back on the committee once again,” said MacKenzie. The (Afghanistan) committee has always had an important function. Canada is going forward with the scheduled withdrawal from our combat role in Afghanistan. The mission is shifting its focus to capacity building of the civil structure of Afghanistan, including the training of police officers and prison guards, which is a function of Public Safety Canada and is appropriate in my role as Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Public Safety.”
The Special Committee was first created in April 2008 by a motion adopted in the House of Commons
