Dear Residents of Oxford,
We are finally enjoying warm weather after a late spring. It is the season for fresh local fruit and vegetables. Be sure to visit one of your local farmers markets, super markets or farm gates in Oxford to purchase your home grown delectable's. I encourage everyone in Oxford to Buy local and Buy Oxford!
I was pleased to support the 2011 Federal Budget tabled by our government. This budget is nearly identical to the one presented before the election, and included several items of particular benefit to Oxford residents. Some highlights of the budget are: Continued Federal transfers to the Provinces, Families will now receive tax credits for expenses on art programs though the Children’s Art Tax credit, The New Horizons for Seniors Program, which has benefited several projects for seniors in Oxford was given an additional, $10 million and volunteer fire fighters will receive a new tax credit. These are but a few of the issues in the budget that are of benefit to the residents of Oxford. For more information about the budget please visit www.davemackenzie.ca or www.fin.gc.ca.
As always, my staff and I welcome you to contact one of my four offices to share your opinions and thoughts. I wish all of you a safe and enjoyable summer and look forward to meeting you in Oxford soon at one of the many entertaining festivals and showcases Oxford has to offer.
